“All Of Us Kids” was was recorded during the sessions for my most recent record Surface Noise, but we left it off the record because I couldn’t figure out where to put it in the flow of things. I’m glad it’s finding a home here.
I wrote this song at my parents house in Florida when I was visiting them during my mother’s protracted illness (she passed away summer of 2015). It’s about going through the experience of spending a lot of time going back and forth between my own life in NY and going down to Florida to help out a lot and trying to do well at both of these facets of my life and not really feeling like I was doing so hot at either. It’s also just about going through something really difficult. Which I feel like we all can relate to right now. So much feels up in the air. So much feels strained. Some moments I feel capable and ready - some not so much. I’m happy that RTP has created something very practical and useful for us to contribute to in these extremely troubling times. Thank you for being part of this and please spread the word about the project!
