North Collins - Wake Up

from A Song A Day Subscription by Rough Trade Publishing/Bank Robber Music

about

The lyrical content of the song is a reaction to the "patriot group" movement, specifically addressing the Oregon wildlife refuge occupation. But it certainly has parallels and connections to the force that elected Donald Trump. Using some of the natural imagery of the area, and that of the occupying marauders, the song highlights the value of the natural world while dismissing the plight of continued white, colonial-style expansionist needs. It's fairly condescending.
